Ardor – the Latin word for fire, passion, and intense heat. This work is a direct expression of that energy: deep, layered reds flaring up from the canvas, interspersed with dark green accents that maintain the tension. Geometry forms the silent backbone of the work – not as a visible grid, but as an underlying structure that gives the color fields their position and weight. Feeling predominates, but order is present.
The Color Palette
For this work, I chose a palette that speaks of fire and earth simultaneously: Dark Cadmium Red as the dominant tone – a deep, warm crimson – complemented by dark green accents that run through the work like shadows. The rich, layered texture reflects light differently depending on the angle. It is a work that changes the longer you look at it.
Technique & Material
Painted with high-quality acrylic paint on canvas, built up layer by layer with broad brushstrokes and palette knife work. The geometric structure determines the composition; the paint layers determine the atmosphere. The texture is tangibly present – this is a work you want to touch.
