Kurenai (紅), crimson: the deepest red. This work is an expression of longing and dark emotions. Deep, layered shades of red rise from the canvas, intersected by black that attempts to overrun but cannot win. Dark green accents break through the tension like hope and life refusing to be swallowed. Geometry forms the silent backbone of the work, not as a visible grid, but as an underlying structure that gives the color fields their position and weight. Feeling prevails, but order is present.
The Color Palette
For this work, I chose a palette that speaks to both longing and darkness: Dark Cadmium Red as the dominant tone, a deep, warm crimson, complemented by black that tries to overrun but fails. Dark green accents run through the work like hope and life. The rich, layered texture reflects light differently depending on the angle. It is a work that changes the longer you look at it.
