Nature Reclaims the City

Reclaimed | Original — a large, expressive work about the unstoppable power of greenery in an urban environment. Cities grow. But nature grows with them. Through cracks in the asphalt, along concrete facades, over abandoned walls. This work is about that tension: the city as a backdrop, nature as the main character.

Fresh. Raw. Charged. Like a spring day in the city just before the rain.

The Color Palette

Teal and deep-sea blue for the coolness of skyscrapers in the mist. Bright pink like neon light reflecting on wet asphalt. Olive green like moss making its way through concrete. The colors clash and blend in broad, energetic strokes — no control, but intention. The work breathes the energy of a city that never stands still.

Technique & Material

Painted with acrylic paint on an MDF panel, mounted on a slat frame for sturdiness and hanging. The surface is primed with gesso for an even, durable base. The paint was applied with palette knives and a squeegee — layer upon layer, wet on wet, until the energy felt right. This technique gives the work its characteristic broad, sharp strokes and rich texture.
